Reading Group: ‘Strangers in Waiting’ with Natasha Ginwala
8 September Friday, 6–7.30pm
In this fourth Reading Group associated with ‘The Foreigners’, join curator and writer Natasha Ginwala to engage critically and extensively with the notions of otherness, identity, and belonging, which are thematics related to the exhibition. She will do a close reading of a selection of poems by Meena Kandasamy and Warsan Shire, and ‘The Distance from Here’ (2009) by Bani Abidi, alongside the essay ‘The Stranger in the Village’ (1955) by James Baldwin. The texts will be emailed to all participants upon registration, and it is recommended that they watch/read them before attending the Reading Group.
This Reading Group has been curated as part of the Public Programmes of the exhibition ‘The Foreigners’, on view until 22 October 2023.
This event is free and all materials will be provided.
