Gallery Talk T. Sanathanan: ‘Remembering Rasiah’

Art historian and artist T. Sanathanan speaks to Chief Curator Sharmini Pereira about artist Asai Rasiah (1946–2020). ‘(வாழ்க்கை) கைவினைஞன்’ ((Life) Craftsman) by Rasiah is on display until 10 April 2022 at the museum during Rotation 1 of ‘Encounters.’

T. Sanathanan is an artist and Senior Lecturer in Art History, Department of Fine Arts, University of Jaffna. He holds a PhD in Art History from the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi.  He has authored several articles and book chapters on modern and contemporary visual art in Sri Lanka, and is also the co-founder of the Sri Lankan Archive for Contemporary Art, Architecture and Design in Jaffna. His art has been exhibited widely locally and internationally. He lives and works in Jaffna, Sri Lanka.
