Dr. Shamara Wettimuny, historian and political analyst, speaks to Pramodha Weerasekera, Assistant Curator Education and Public Programmes about cultural production during the Cold War. This talk will take into account the contemporary cultural movements of the Afro-Asian Writers’ Movement, which emerged in 1958 to champion third world anti-colonial struggles from a literary and cultural standpoint. Works by the movement are on display in ‘Encounters’ until 19 March 2023.
