Artist Pradeep Thalawatta speaks to Assistant Curator, Sandev Handy about the creative processes behind ‘Athi Vishesha (Extra Special)’ and how his practice has evolved over the years. ‘Athi Vishesha (Extra Special)’ by Thalawatta will be on display at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Sri Lanka during Rotation 1 of ‘Encounters’ until 10 April 2022.
Pradeep Thalawatta was born in 1979. He holds a BFA and MFA from Beaconhouse National University in Lahore, Pakistan, and has also trained as a studio-based artist at the Vibhavi Academy of Fine Arts. Pradeep’s works largely comment on post-conflict Sri Lanka and the urban landscape. He lives and works in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
