Reading Group: ‘Imagining Minnette’ with Irushi Tennekoon and Ruhanie Perera
31 May Friday, 6–7.30pm
Irushi, artist and educator, and Ruhanie, lecturer in English at the University of Colombo, lead a discussion about Minnette De Silva’s practice of self-documenting. They will also discuss examples of ways in which other creative practitioners remember/imagine Minnette and her practice. The selection of texts includes the puppet of Minnette De Silva by Irushi, which is on display in ‘88 Acres’, selected extracts from the script of ‘is this an architectural documentary?’ (2023), and ‘Plastic Emotions’ by Shiromi Pinto.
The texts will be emailed to all participants upon registration, and it is recommended that they read them before attending the Reading Group.
This Reading Group is offered as part of Public Programmes of the exhibition ‘88 Acres: The Watapuluwa Housing Scheme by Minnette De Silva’, on view until 7 July 2024.
