Workshop ‘Participatory Storytelling via Embroidery’ with Shahdia Jamaldeen and Shenuka Corea (for ages 16 and above)
24 February Saturday, 3–5pm
Borrowing from Minnette De Silva’s (1918–1998) pioneering approach of using participatory methods to design the Watapuluwa Housing Scheme (1958), architect Shahdia Jamaldeen and illustrator Shenuka Corea will lead a workshop where participants will come together to make their own tapestry of experimental embroidery. No previous experience in sewing, embroidery, or illustration is required.
This workshop has been curated as part of the Public Programmes of the exhibition ‘88 Acres: The Watapuluwa Housing Scheme by Minnette De Silva’, on view until 7 July 2024. This programme is free and all materials will be provided.
