She will do a close reading of a selection of poems by Meena Kandasamy and Warsan Shire, and ‘The Distance from Here’ (2009) by Bani Abidi, alongside the essay ‘The Stranger in the Village’ (1955) by James Baldwin. The texts will be emailed to all participants upon registration, and it is recommended that they watch/read them before attending the Reading Group.
