Gallery Talk: ‘The Art of Documentary Filmmaking?’ with Irushi Tennekoon, Anomaa Rajakaruna and Sharni Jayawardena

In this final Gallery Talk of ‘88 Acres’, artist and art educator Irushi speaks to filmmakers Anomaa and Sharni about feminist approaches to storytelling and documentary making. Anomaa will pay specific attention to the films ‘Women Who Loved Women in Sri Lanka’ (2010) and ‘Our Mother, Grandmother, Prime-minister: Sirimavo’ (2023) while Sharni will speak about ‘Being Here’ (2023) and ‘The Wronged Right’ (2018).
This Gallery Talk has been curated as part of the Public Programmes of the exhibition ‘88 Acres: The Watapuluwa Housing Scheme by Minnette De Silva’, on view until 7 July 2024.
