In this first edition of a series of Reading Groups associated with ‘The Foreigners’, join Prof. Neloufer de Mel, Senior Professor at the Department of English, University of Colombo, to critically engage with a literary text in conjunction with the artworks on view. Prof. de Mel will do a close reading of the essay ‘Imaginary Homelands’ (1991) by Salman Rushdie and the ‘Sun Man’ series by Rienzi Crusz. The texts will be emailed to all participants upon registration and it is recommended that they read both texts before attending the Reading Group.

This Reading Group has been curated as part of the Public Programmes of the exhibition ‘The Foreigners’, on view until 22 October 2023.
